HMNB Clyde - Faslane Site Job Summary His Majesty’s Naval Base Clyde (HMNB Clyde) is home to the United Kingdom’s Strategic Nuclear Deterrent, Astute Class Attack Submarines, Mine Threat and Exploitation Group and 43 Cdo Royal Marines. It is an operational support and maintenance base, within the Navy Command TLB and comprises both Faslane and Coulport sites. HMNB Clyde’s primary purpose is to provide engineering and logistical support to the Royal Navy in maintaining Continuous at Sea Deterrent (CASD). This is achieved by ensuring at least one Vanguard Class submarine is on patrol at sea every day of the year. RNAD Coulport is responsible for the storage, processing, maintenance and issue of the Trident Weapon System and the ammunitioning of all submarine-embarked tactical weapons. This position is advertised at 37 hours per week. Job Description This is an exciting opportunity to join the HMNB Clyde Physical Development Team. The Physical Development (PDev) portfolio is a key component of Armed Forces operational capability and comprises the three pillars of Sport, Physical Education and Adventurous Training. In support of the Live Well strategy, the Physical Training Specialist Instruction Officer (PT SIO) will be key to the facilitation, administration and fitness delivery to personnel, providing support and advice where required. A key delivery objective is to provide the correct level of safe training and fitness testing, ensuring the training is appropriate and conforms with relevant training objectives. The PT SIO will be required to assist in tasks that contribute to the daily output of the Gymnasium, including circuits, Challenging Activities and fitness classes. Specific Responsibilities Will Include Main Duties include: The delivery of safe and effective recreational physical training sessions/circuits and military fitness tests for Service Personnel and co-located lodger units as directed, remaining within extant guidelines. To ensure the correct level of safe training & testing is delivered on all lessons conducted. Training is to be appropriate, structured and must conform to the relevant training objectives iaw JSP 822 and Defence System Approach To Training documentation. Remain current with all relevant PDEV Policies in order to ensure compliance. To complete upgrading or qualification courses/seminars as required in line with any changes to the training syllabus, or as identified by the Line Manager, which will benefit establishment personnel in accordance with BR51 & JSP 660. In addition to the main responsibilities, where practicable in terms of PDev requirements, personal situation and external factors, conduct Adventurous Training and Challenging Activities in accordance with relevant (in date) Service qualifications. Act as the secondary qualified swimming pool Lifeguard and to undertake Lifeguarding duties in accordance with current departmental Standing Orders (in case of emergency). To work in accordance with gymnasium opening hours and carry out the role of Gym Duty Staff (On a rotational basis) as defined in establishment Standing Orders (Currently 0630-1830).
