Full Job Description
A long-established Glasgow architectural practice is seeking a Project/Senior Architect or experienced Architectural Technologist to join their team on a permanent basis. Known for delivering high-quality commercial, hospitality, and retail architecture across the UK, they are now expanding into the Middle East with several live and upcoming projects in Dubai and surrounding regions.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering major schemes both in the UK and abroad. This position suits someone with strong technical knowledge, confident client-facing abilities, and a desire to take ownership of projects from inception to completion. While rooted in Scotland, their client relationships are international, and the role involves occasional travel to Dubai for site visits, meetings, and design coordination. Travel will be limited to a few times a year, but flexibility and enthusiasm for international work are essential.
The practice has built a reputation over four decades for being reliable, practical, and commercially minded. They value architects and technologists who can deliver, communicate clearly, and solve problems effectively. Projects typically move quickly, requiring efficiency, responsiveness, and a real-world understanding of construction. This is a practice focused on delivering real buildings rather than conceptual competitions or boutique detailing; they prioritize realization, repeat clients, and practical delivery.
Daily responsibilities include managing projects, liaising with clients, coordinating with consultants and contractors, and preparing technical documentation. ARB registration is required for architects; for technologists, MCIAT or significant demonstrable experience is preferred. Proficiency in Revit and BIM is essential. Candidates should demonstrate strong technical skills, a good understanding of UK building regulations, and experience across all RIBA stages.
Beyond UK-based commercial and hospitality projects, the Middle East portfolio offers an opportunity to gain international experience with high-profile operators. This role suits someone culturally aware, confident in client interactions, and excited about working in a fast-evolving international market. Support for travel and accommodation during site visits will be provided, and team members typically coordinate remotely with Dubai-based consultants and clients.
The practice operates from a well-located Glasgow office with a close-knit, collaborative team. The environment is fast-paced, with scope for progression for self-motivated and accountable individuals.
Whether you are a qualified architect with strong delivery experience or a seasoned technologist with a background in commercial sectors, this is an opportunity to join a respected team during a period of expansion.
Applications are welcomed from professionals eager to grow their technical portfolio, take on new responsibilities, and contribute to projects spanning the UK and beyond.
