We are looking for a reliable, compassionate and proactive Pastoral Support Officer to join our team at out Aspire Primary school in Croydon. You will be working closely with the Pastoral Lead in supporting pupils across KS1-KS2 in our independent SEMH and SLCN school. This post plays a vital role in maintaining high standards of behaviour, attendance, and safeguarding across the school. You will work directly with pupils, families and staff to provide timely, practical support that improves pupil outcomes and promotes emotional well-being and safety. The successful candidate will be committed to ensuring that all children feel safe, valued, and ready to learn. Key Responsibilities Support the Pastoral Lead in promoting and maintaining high standards of behaviour across the school. Support the monitoring of attendance and punctuality; engage with families to improve attendance where necessary. Help address safeguarding concerns by liaising with the DSL and following school policies and procedures. Build trusted relationships with pupils, acting as a key adult for emotional regulation and daily support. Assist with restorative conversations, de-escalation and reflection following behaviour incidents. Work with teaching and support staff to ensure a consistent approach to behaviour management. Assist with supervision during transitions, break/lunch times and at the start and end of the day. Support the delivery of behaviour or emotional literacy interventions where appropriate. Help maintain pastoral records, including behaviour logs, safeguarding notes, and attendance reports. Attend and contribute to safeguarding and multi-agency meetings when required.Ideal Candidate Will Have Experience working with children or young people with SEMH/SLCN, behaviour or attendance challenges. Good knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and behaviour management strategies. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils and families. Emotional resilience, patience, and a solution-focused attitude. Ability to stay calm and professional in challenging situations.Why work for us?
