Systems Engineer – Broadcast Operations Support – London – shift based
We’re hiring a Systems Engineer to support a large-scale, live broadcast and production environment used by one of the UK’s leading news and media organisations.
This is a hands-on operations role focused on fault finding, incident response and preventative maintenance across studios, master control and file-based production systems. You’ll work at the heart of live output, keeping critical services stable and resolving issues quickly and calmly.
It suits someone from a broadcast, media or live production background who enjoys solving problems under pressure and working closely with editorial and technical teams.
What you’ll do
* Diagnose and resolve faults across broadcast and production infrastructure
* Support studios, MCR and field contribution systems
* Maintain ingest, editing and production asset workflows
* Troubleshoot baseband video, audio and IP routing issues
* Analyse logs and escalate effectively to vendors where required
* Support cameras, vision desks, sound consoles and talkback
* Work directly with operators during live transmissions
* Assist with upgrades, rollouts and technical projects
* Provide clear written handovers between shifts
* Work a rotating shift pattern, including out-of-hours cover
What we’re looking for
* Experience in broadcast TV, radio or multimedia environments
* Strong fault finding and structured troubleshooting skills
* Calm, decisive approach during live incidents
* Understanding of production, post-production and delivery workflows
* Knowledge of nonlinear editing systems
* Familiarity with broadcast IP routing and distribution
* Confident communicator who works well with both engineers and editorial staff

* Windows, Linux or macOS administration
* Avid, EVS or similar file-based production systems
* Newsroom or control systems
* Broadcast graphics workflows
* Encoding, file transfer and media management
* LAN and fibre networking
