About the school
This specialist SEN school for students aged 11-19 with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) and Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is committed to preparing young people for life beyond education. The school provides a broad academic foundation enriched by tailored interventions, therapeutic support, and, for some, access to a residential "waking day" curriculum. Emotional well being is prioritised alongside learning, with a strong focus on enabling students to become confident, independent, and aspirational young adults. Close collaboration with families and a dedicated team of specialist staff underpin the school's mission to support lifelong learning, community contribution, and personal growth.
The Role:
We are seeking a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to:
1. Collaborate with teaching staff to deliver and adapt Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
2. Support pupils one-to-one or in small groups, fostering learning and independence.
3. Assist with classroom management and create a calm, supportive environment.
4. Prepare tailored resources and support communication and social skills development.
5. Build meaningful relationships with students, staff, therapists, and families.
What You Bring:
6. Experience working with young people in SEN settings-or a strong passion for special education.
7. Patience, empathy, flexibility, and strong communication skills.
8. A collaborative mindset and readiness to contribute to a supportive, inclusive team.
9. Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain one).
