Base pay range
Play a vital role in safeguarding Scotland - join our Security & Business Continuity Unit as a Physical Security Administrator and help keep the Scottish Government safe, secure, and resilient. This Physical Security Administrator role within Security & Business Continuity Unit contributes to the first duty of government to keep people safe. Provision of physical security administration support to the busy Physical Security team within the Security and Business Continuity Unit of Scottish Government, thus contributing to making Scottish government safe, secure and resilient.
Responsibilities
* Administration of the Scottish Government’s (SG) Automated Access Control System (AACS).
* Adding new pass records, assigning access rights and updating pass records as requested ensuring data input is accurate.
* Assigning access rights to users who require access to authorised areas or revoking rights to users who no longer require access.
* Dealing with pass and access control enquiries that come into the operational mailbox daily and providing advice to representatives from Scottish Government or other organisations in writing.
* Dealing with general telephone/digital enquiries.
* Printing passes on a daily basis to issue to staff and contractors.
* Printing passes upon request.
* General security administrative duties dealing with visitor and contractor access.
* Ensuring that relevant databases and files are updated and accurate.
* Assisting with out of hours security tasks, security incident monitoring and follow up actions.
* Ensuring implementation of all Security and Business Continuity policies and practices and following all guidance to support decision making.
* Conducting any other reasonable duties commensurate with the grade.

Working pattern
Our standard hours are 35 hours per week and we offer a range of flexible working options depending on the needs of the role. From October 2025, the Scottish Government will require staff in hybrid-compatible roles to work in-person 40% of the time, either in an office or other agreed work location. Security checks
Successful candidates must complete the Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), before they can be appointed. BPSS is comprised of four main pre-employment checks – Identity, Right to work, Employment History and a Criminal Record check (unspent convictions).

The successful candidate must also attain the Security Check (SC) level of clearance under National Security Vetting (NSV).
