In this key leadership position, you will oversee a skilled portering team committed to delivering a safe, efficient, and reliable transport service across the hospital. Your expertise will help facilitate the smooth movement of medical records, materials, and equipment, supporting our clinicians and departments to deliver exceptional healthcare. If you are a proactive, organised professional with strong leadership skills and a passion for healthcare logistics, this is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a dynamic hospital environment. What you’ll do: Monitoring and managing the Hive system to ensure timely completion of all portering jobs Allocating work and responsibilities to portering staff, ensuring proper use and return of handheld devices Coordinating staff training, including moving and handling, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations Managing staff scheduling, including annual leave, sickness absence, and conducting performance appraisals Communicating effectively with healthcare and support staff to resolve issues and coordinate portering services Ensuring all portering duties are performed in line with Trust policies, including incident reporting and compliance Providing emergency response coordination during incidents such as cardiac arrests, fires, and other critical situations What you bring: Good communication skills to enable communication with colleagues, patients and clients regarding on job duties Ability to work as part of a team Good level of customer care. Experience of working in a healthcare environment (desirable) Good understanding of health and safety and manual handling practices Ability to respond constructively and professionally to unpredictable situations Attend mandatory induction and health and safety related training and all other required training What we offer: Working at Sodexo isn’t just a job — it’s a chance to make a difference every day.
