BMS Controls Lead – Royal Navy Site, Plymouth Security Clearance Required: BPSS Carmichael UK is seeking an experienced BMS (Building Energy Management System) Controls Lead to join this the high-profile job of Devonport Docks in Plymouth on a long term basis. Please note: Due to the sensitive nature of this site, BPSS security clearance is required. The clearance process can take up to 8 weeks. Eligibility: Candidates must hold a passport from a NATO or MISWG member country and have resided in the UK for the past 5 years. Key Responsibilities Oversee the operation, installation, and commissioning of BMS systems across multiple sites or a large-scale facility. Lead a team of engineers and technicians, ensuring effective delivery of both planned and reactive BMS maintenance. Collaborate with Facilities, Energy Management, and Sustainability teams to support carbon reduction and energy efficiency goals. Provide expert advice on BMS design, specification, installation, and commissioning for new projects or refurbishments. Identify and implement opportunities for system optimisation and cost savings through performance monitoring and data analysis. Manage third-party service providers, ensuring SLA compliance and high-quality delivery. Ensure BMS systems remain secure, up-to-date, and compliant with relevant regulations and best practices. Maintain accurate records, logs, and documentation related to BMS operations and projects. Lead fault-finding and diagnostics for complex system issues and provide technical support to the wider team. This role may involve additional duties as required by the company, with full training and support provided. Candidate Profile Proven experience as a BMS Controls Manager or Senior BMS Engineer. In-depth knowledge of BMS platforms such as Trend, Siemens, Schneider, Tridium/Niagara, or equivalents. Strong understanding of HVAC systems, electrical engineering, and building services. Experience with energy management systems and sustainability initiatives. Excellent leadership, project management, and communication skills. Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and schematics. Familiarity with UK legislation and health & safety standards (e.g., SFG20, CIBSE, ISO). Desirable Qualifications & Experience Degree, HND, or HNC in Building Services Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline. IOSH or NEBOSH Health & Safety certification. Experience working in highly regulated or complex environments (e.g., nuclear). Location: Plymouth, UK Contract: Full-time, on-site Rate: Inside IR35.
