Overview
BT Group Bristol, United Kingdom seeks a Network IP Design Specialist to contribute towards the delivery of client technical requirements, deploying optimal networking and connectivity solutions that enable clients and the enterprise to achieve their operational and business goals.

What You’ll Be Doing
1. Undertakes routine daily activities and is accountable for system design, build, testing, validation, maintenance, and ongoing support of all network infrastructure components.
2. Implements new and enhanced network technology that aligns to customers' strategic direction for enterprise and remote site connectivity.
3. Maintains standards for global network infrastructure, including wireless, LAN and SD-WAN networks and connectivity.
4. Provisioning and deployment: Configure and deploy network devices such as routers, switches, and firewalls to support IP Transport Lab infrastructure.
5. Network troubleshooting, performance monitoring, and operational support: diagnose issues, monitor performance, manage changes, routine maintenance, and respond to incidents.
6. Documentation management and knowledge transfer: maintain configuration and incident records and provide required training to land new solutions into the support organisation.
7. Security implementation: implement and manage security for core and cloud infrastructure to manage risks and exposure.
8. Collaboration: work closely with design teams, system administrators, and other stakeholders to ensure network reliability and efficiency.
9. Escalation support: provide support for problem escalations from the global network support organisation.
10. Leadership and knowledge sharing: mentor other engineering professionals, helping to improve the team's abilities and stay current with emerging network trends.
The Skills You’ll Need To Succeed
* Expert knowledge of IP Transport technologies and protocols.
* Technical expertise with Cisco Nexus 7000/9000 series, Nokia SR 7750 IPsec GW framework, and Cisco ASR 1001 with IP MPLS.
* Firewall proficiency with Checkpoint and Fortinet experience advantageous.
* Automation tools familiarity.
* Operating systems: Junos OS.
* Load balancing: F5 BIG-IP and related load balancer experience.
* Security and Network Access Control: Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) features.
* Mobile backhaul knowledge and experience.
* Certifications: NRS2, CCNA, CCNP.
* Analytical skills: ability to build a business case using data and analysis and communicate it to decision-makers.
Experience Required
* Extensive experience in IP Transport technologies and protocols.
* Hands-on experience with Cisco Nexus 7000 and 9000 series.
* Proficiency with Nokia SR 7750 IPsec GW framework.
* Expertise in IP MPLS/VPN and related services, including architecture, label distribution, traffic engineering, and MPLS-based VPN implementations.
* Experience diagnosing and resolving network issues, including connectivity problems, performance degradation, and security incidents.
Nice to Have
* Knowledge of firewall technologies with hands-on experience in Checkpoint and Fortinet.
* Familiarity with automation tools and practices.
* Experience with Junos OS.
* Knowledge of F5 BIG-IP and load balancers.
* Experience with Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) security and network access control features.
* Knowledge and experience in mobile backhaul.
