Want to use your mechanical skills to keep sustainable energy flowing? Join us as a Mechanical Maintenance Technician at our Energy from Waste (EfW) facility in Huddersfield, where we turn residual waste into renewable power and support a cleaner, circular economy.
At SUEZ, we act for what truly matters — for the environment, for society, and for the future. This is the place for people who want to make a real impact, not just watch from the sidelines. Join us and help drive positive change through innovative solutions that build a more resilient and sustainable world.
What you'll be doing
You'll help ensure our Huddersfield energy recovery plant operates safely and at peak performance:
1. Provide guidance, supervision, and technical support to junior staff and contractors to foster skill development and safe working practices.
2. Collaborate with colleagues across different functions to support smooth, cross-team operations.
3. Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues promptly to maximise plant availability and efficiency.
What are the requirements?
4. Predominantly mechanical background with basic electrical knowledge, ideally from an engineering apprenticeship or equivalent hands-on experience.
5. Proven experience as a Maintenance Technician/Engineer in manufacturing, production, or heavy industrial environments, with knowledge of conveyors, motors, gearboxes, hydraulics, and pneumatics (basic electrical fault-finding highly beneficial).
6. Ideally qualified to City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
7. IOSH qualification (desirable but not essential — we'll support you to gain it if needed).
We value work-life balance and can offer some flexibility on core hours (e.g., to support school runs or caring responsibilities) and, where operationally possible, the option to condense contracted hours into a 4-day week. If flexible working would help you thrive in this role, please mention it in your application — we’re open to discussing what works for you.
Who we are
