Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
Special Purpose Machinery Manufacturer – Location: Rochdale.
Salary: £37,000 - £52,000 (dependent on experience).

My highly established, forward-thinking client is seeking a talented and motivated Senior Design Engineer to join their growing engineering team in Rochdale. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the design and development of innovative machinery and components, supporting the full product lifecycle from concept to manufacture and customer delivery.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and develop new machines, assemblies and components.
* Produce detailed 3D CAD models and 2D drawings (SolidWorks & PDM).
* Create manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings and bills of materials.
* Generate purchased equipment specifications for ancillary components.
* Perform design calculations and validation for new and modified designs.
* Work closely with Sales, Purchasing, Production, Quality and Service teams.
* Provide technical support across departments and to group companies.
* Assist in resolving customer issues through root cause analysis (RCA).
* Participate in design reviews, project meetings and factory acceptance tests (FAT).
* Maintain accurate design documentation in line with company procedures.
* Manage engineering changes through DCR and ECN processes.
* Prepare technical manuals for customer equipment.
* Ensure compliance with relevant engineering standards and regulations.
Required Qualifications
* Minimum 5+ years of mechanical design and product development experience.
* Proficiency in SolidWorks (3D CAD) and technical drawing creation.
* Experience with GD&T and DFMA principles.
* Knowledge of manufacturing processes, fabrication and assembly.
* Experience working with BOMs and engineering documentation systems (e.g. SAP).
* Degree, HND or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
* 3-5 years’ experience in a similar engineering role.
