In this role, your primary focus will be to act as a knowledge lawyer for Barclay's Group Corporate and Treasury Legal (GCTL) team, supporting the management of legal risk through developing and implementing a knowledge management strategy aligned with the team’s objectives. You will assist in advising on and managing legal risks arising from new laws, rules, and regulations (LRRs).
GCTL comprises corporate, capital markets, and prudential regulatory lawyers supporting Barclays' Head Office functions, including Finance, Treasury, Regulatory Policy, Risk, Investor Relations, and Corporate Secretariat. The team manages legal risks related to corporate law, financial reporting, capital markets transactions, regulatory capital, prudential regulation, and other significant group-wide legal issues.
The key responsibilities include:
1. Monitoring legal and market developments, advising on risks, trends, and key changes.
2. Promoting best practices for knowledge capture, curation, and dissemination.
3. Producing analysis and updates for internal briefings.
4. Designing and delivering training to the business, supporting team members in training delivery.
5. Developing and executing the team’s knowledge plan and strategy to meet stakeholder needs.
6. Collaborating with legal tech, innovation, and project management teams to improve efficiencies.
7. Supporting the sharing of know-how across teams via platforms and process improvements.
8. Coordinating subject matter expertise input on deliverables, maintaining a global LRR inventory.
9. Ensuring LRRs are reflected within policies, standards, and controls.
10. Working closely with the Central Legal Team and other colleagues involved in legal risk management.
11. Engaging with internal and external legal colleagues, stakeholders, and second-line defense teams.
You should have:
* Experience as a senior lawyer, knowledge lawyer, or equivalent, with a broad understanding of GCTL areas, and willingness to upskill.
* Experience advising on financial services regulation, corporate matters, public disclosures, securities issuance, and familiarity with US legal and regulatory requirements.
