Role Requirements
Newport Live’s Riverfront Theatre & Arts Centre (‘The Riverfront’) is a lively centre, based in the heart of Newport, overlooking the River Usk. Our vision ‘Inspiring Happier Healthier’ aims to bring as much of the community as possible into contact with creativity and the arts, through professional performances, workshops, and film screenings.
We are Newport’s only professional presenting theatre and arts centre, with two theatre spaces, a visual arts gallery space, basement, dance studio, recording studio, workshop rooms, conference room, and a licenced café with outdoor terrace. Our popular line ups including our annual festive Pantomime, and the fantastic Big Splash summer event.
As an Arts Council of Wales ‘Arts Portfolio Wales’ venue, the Riverfront has a vital role in developing a high quality and ambitious cultural offer in Newport and the surrounding communicates. We present a diverse cross art form programme throughout the year, from commercially focussed events to experimental and risk-taking work, which supports the professional development of artists living in Wales.
What will the Head of Culture, Theatre & Arts be doing?
Leading Newport Live’s theatre, arts, and cultural programmes, you will ensure operation to the highest standard, and maximise potential across all areas of the arts in a financially sustainable way. No two days are the same, from travelling to see a show there is potential for us to host, to researching and writing grant/funding applications.
By leading our artistic vision, you will include broad engagement and participation programmes, as well as continuing to develop a diverse programme of artistically led and commercially driven events.
Liaising with a variety of stakeholders (both internal and external) you will be responsible for effective management of our working relationships with the wider arts community, including theatrical producers, agents, advertising agencies, press representatives, and other professionals from the theatrical community including potential sponsors, promoters, and contractors.
