Job description

Digital identities will make it possible for people to prove things about themselves in a secure and trusted way without showing paper documents. Done right, they will be a vital building block for the economy of the future and unlock hundreds of millions of pounds of economic growth in the UK economy.

The Office for Digital Identities and Attributes (OfDIA) in the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) is enabling the widespread use of digital identities across the UK economy by creating a framework of standards and governance, underpinned by legislation, that will enable digital identities to be trusted in the UK.

To date, we have created the UK digital identity and attributes trust framework to show service providers and UK businesses what a good quality digital identity looks like, and we have created a certification process to enable service providers to be independently assessed as meeting the rules in the trust framework. Our team (OfDIA) is responsible for maintaining this trust framework and certification scheme.

We also maintain a register of trusted services providers (DVS register) in the UK market and issue them with a government trust mark. The post holder will support this team in maintaining the DVS register in line with statutory obligations. This includes managing applications to join the register, and deciding when and how the statutory powers and duties are used to add or remove providers from the register. In this role you will also support the team in issuing and revoking authorisation to use the UK CertifID trust mark – the quality mark awarded to services on the register.

You will be required to support engagement with the trust framework and certification teams in OfDIA to ensure that changes to policy are reflected in enforcement and application processes and with lawyers to ensure that intellectual property and statutory protections for the mark are established, maintained and enforced.

You will also be required to support the continuous improvement of the application process; working with the digital delivery team to develop application processes that are effective, efficient and user-focused and will act as a first-point-of-contact with service providers; supporting queries about applications, trust mark use and compliance with trust framework and scheme rules.

We are seeking a detail-oriented, analytical and critical thinker with strong knowledge and information management skills to join our DVS registration team. This an operational policy role with a primary focus on casework.

You will be part of a small team of comprising of an SEO and another HEO. You will join a friendly, diverse, and multi-functional team of 40+ people.
