Are you a Sous Chef looking to take the next step? Or an experienced Head Chef looking for a bit more creative freedom? We would love to attract a candidate looking to possibly pursue the role of Head Chef for the first time or someone with passion for food who is looking for a fresh start.

At the Old Thatch Inn, Cheriton Bishop, we pride ourselves on providing local, seasonal, British cuisine to our customers. We are looking for a full time Head chef to join our expanding team. As a family run business, we are aiming to throw out the old norms in favour of a better work life balance where the ideal candidate has the freedom to show their creativity and flare but also avoid burn out.

We are looking for someone who can provide a high quality fresh and seasonal menu cooked to order. The menu will be ever changing with daily specials to encourage your creativity. We have worked over the last 2 years to build the reputation for our food, so we are looking to take that to the next level with aspirations to achieve awards and accolades.

We have plenty of reliable cooking equipment and there is room for investment in equipment for the right candidate. Although some breakfast shifts will be required, we aim to keep this to a maximum of 2 per week which will be accounted for in your weekly contracted hours of 45 hours per week.

This position requires excellent organisational skills, the ability to work alone, in a team and under pressure with an eye for detail. It is important to ensure all food is prepared to the highest standards.

You will be responsible for:

· Maintaining our current food gross profit margin of 64% or higher

· Ensuring consistent quality of all food that leaves the kitchen

· Interviewing and training new staff

· All ordering for the kitchen

· Checking quality of goods received

· Maintaining our 5-star food hygiene rating

Working Hours and salary: Monday - Sunday with varying shift patterns. You will be contracted to work 45 hours per week over 5 days.

We are currently offering a base salary of £33-35,000 per annum with an achievable, non-target based, bonus scheme.
