Job Title: Site Agent or Project Manager

Overview
We are seeking an experienced Site Agent or Project Manager to lead the safe, efficient, and profitable delivery of civil engineering projects or packages within larger schemes. This role requires strong leadership, programme management, and commercial awareness, alongside the ability to build high-performing teams and maintain strong client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery
* Take full responsibility for the successful delivery of projects or sections of large-scale schemes
* Ensure works are delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to required quality standards
* Understand project objectives, specifications, and tender strategy from handover through to completion
Health & Safety
* Lead a strong safety culture and ensure full compliance with all relevant regulations (including CDM)
* Produce and manage risk assessments, method statements, and site safety plans
* Ensure all personnel are trained, inducted, and equipped to carry out works safely
* Investigate and report incidents, ensuring lessons learned are implemented
Programme & Planning
* Develop tender programmes into detailed construction programmes within agreed timeframes
* Monitor progress against programme, identify risks/delays, and implement corrective actions
* Maintain accurate records including as-built data and progress tracking
* Lead regular progress meetings with internal teams and clients
Commercial & Financial Management
* Work closely with the commercial team to develop and manage cost plans
* Monitor labour, plant, and material costs against budget
* Identify risks to margin and implement mitigation strategies
* Manage change control, ensuring all variations are captured, valued, and agreed
Team Leadership
* Build, lead, and develop high-performing site teams
* Clearly define roles, responsibilities, and expectations
* Conduct regular performance reviews and support development
* Foster a collaborative, proactive, and solutions-focused environment
Client & Stakeholder Management
* Act as the primary site representative, maintaining professional client relationships
* Manage client expectations and ensure clear communication at all stages
* Coordinate with subcontractors, designers, local authorities, and stakeholders
* Maintain stakeholder registers and manage issues through to resolution
Subcontractor & Supply Chain Management
* Procure and manage subcontractors in line with company policies
* Build and maintain strong, collaborative supply chain relationships
* Ensure clear accountability and performance management across all packages
Risk & Change Management
* Maintain and manage the project risk register
* Identify, assess, and mitigate risks and opportunities
* Control scope changes and ensure proper approvals and documentation
Design Management
* Ensure design deliverables align with programme requirements
* Monitor compliance with design and build procedures
Reporting & Governance
* Produce regular reports including programme, cost, risk, and progress updates
* Deliver monthly client reports and internal updates
* Support audits and ensure compliance with quality and environmental standards
Post-Construction
* Ensure defect-free completion and smooth handover
* Manage close-out documentation including H&S files and as-builts
* Support client relationships to maximise repeat business opportunities
* Lead lessons learned and project review processes
Requirements
Experience & Qualifications
* Proven experience as a Site Agent or similar role within civil engineering
* Strong understanding of construction management and delivery processes
* Knowledge of CDM regulations and HSEQ requirements
* Experience managing programmes, costs, and subcontractors
* Ability to produce Work Package Plans and Task Briefing Sheets
