Infrastructure Engineer – Wigan (Hybrid)

About the role
Join the Wigan office as an Infrastructure Engineer, responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure and resilient infrastructure solutions.
Responsibilities
* Assist in the design, development, implementation and testing of technical solutions based on business requirements.
* Actively contribute to the wider IT strategy, delivering stabilisation and continuous improvement in processes and technology.
* Maintain the IT infrastructure using the latest technology.
* Install and configure infrastructure components on networks and servers, optimising performance for databases, networks and application servers.
* Comply with governance procedures and continuously improve processes.
* Install and configure operating systems, software and hardware components, and clearly document design, maintenance and support procedures for routine tasks.
* Create reports and documentation outlining findings and solutions.
Qualifications
* Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar infrastructure role with strong design skills incorporating security, service and operational considerations.
* In‑depth knowledge of Linux operating systems, monitoring, maintenance and automation of infrastructure environments.
* Excellent time‑management skills, able to manage conflicting priorities and engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
* Hands‑on experience with Office 365, Windows Server, Hyper‑V, Active Directory, SAN/NAS, Azure and LAN networking including switch configuration.
* Strong attention to detail, able to work independently and as part of a team.
* Excellent communication skills, proactive mindset and commitment to continuous improvement.
* Confident in managing priorities and delivering results in a fast‑paced environment.
