Overview
Ash Surgery is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to be part of our busy clinical Admin team. As a Clinical Coder/Administrator you will provide an invaluable link between third-party information that comes into the Practice and patients' electronic records. If you have accurate keyboard and IT skills and an understanding of medical terminology, this could be the job for you!
Experience
* Background in Notes Summarising (clinical) – essential
* Knowledge and experience with DOCMAN and EMIS clinical systems – essential
* An understanding of the importance of confidentiality in the workplace and ability to follow data protection policies and guidelines – essential
Desirable
* Knowledge of QOF
* Ability to create searches within the clinical system and conduct basic audits as required
* Experience with Ardens templates
* Ability to work as a team player
* Ability to work autonomously in a very busy role
* Ability to prioritise work when under pressure
* An understanding of the importance of confidentiality in the workplace and ability to follow data protection policies and guidelines
Qualifications
* Essential: GCSE English, Mathematics
* Desirable: GCSE Science or A Level Biology or equivalent

Primary duties
* Accurately clinically code data on the clinical system into the patient record
* Identifying relevant clinical information documented in patient correspondence, coding appropriately and completing any detailed action
* Input and extract data as required to support practice reports
* File and store records as required
* Photocopying documentation as required
* Action all incoming correspondence emails and mail in a timely manner
* Scan patient related documentation and attach scanned documents to patients' healthcare records
* Answer incoming telephone calls, transfer calls or deal with callers' request appropriately
* Carry out systems searches as requested
* Support all clinical staff with general administrative tasks as requested
Secondary duties
* Review and update the practice coding policy as required in conjunction with the Practice Manager
* Partake in audits as directed by the audit lead
* Support reception staff, providing cover during absences
* Book appointments
* Complete opening and closing office procedures
