The Operational Technology Projects team delivers project‑based work across the Wessex Water region, providing solutions for all elements of operational technology.
We are now looking for an additional OT Engineer to join our regional team.
What you’ll do
This is a hands‑on role where you’ll join a dedicated and experienced team of Engineers and Technicians, working with Operational Technology across water treatment, water recovery and pumping station facilities.
You will deliver OT project work, including software and control system development, acceptance testing on new control panels, legacy system upgrades, process control modifications, communications solutions, telemetry testing and on‑site commissioning.
You’ll bring a free‑thinking, can‑do attitude and a flexible approach to engineering challenges, working closely with wider project delivery teams and operations while following design standards and health and safety procedures.
We recognise that this is a complex and challenging role, so ongoing development and training opportunities across all areas will be available for the right individuals.
What you’ll need
We are looking for someone with both practical hands‑on and technical ability, with a passion for engineering and the desire for self‑development and learning.
To be successful in this role, experience with Industrial Control Systems and OT is a must, including:
* the ability to interrogate, develop and modify industrial control systems and/or software
* experience with PLCs, instrumentation, communications, IP networking, motor/pump control, SCADA and telemetry systems
* being electrically competent with a level 3 qualification (desirable but not essential)
* good IT skills
* good communicator at all levels
* the ability to manage your own projects and workload
* being a team player.
A technical engineering qualification is desirable but is not essential if you have relevant experience. Training and development will be provided for successful applicants.
This is a regional role, so applicants will be considered from anywhere within the area we serve.
What you’ll receive
* A combined pension contribution of up to 20 %.
* Career progression and professional development opportunities.
* 25 days’ holiday rising to 28 with length of service.
* The opportunity to sell up to five days of holiday every year.
* The opportunity to buy up to ten days of holiday each year (subject to conditions).
* A healthcare package that allows you to claim back healthcare costs.
* Life assurance of up to eight times your salary.
* The opportunity to lease a new electric car through salary sacrifice (subject to conditions).
* Cashback and discounts from more than 3,000 retailers.
* One paid volunteering day each year.
* Enhanced family leave and pay arrangements.
* Access to an interactive health and wellbeing platform.
* Support from trained mental health first aiders.
* A £1,000 referral fee if you recommend someone who is successfully recruited by us.
