Randstad are recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer for a client based in Chepstow. They are a growing company that specialise in designing and manufacturing mechanical products for a variety of industries.
The successful candidate will join a collaborative Mechanical Engineering team and will be responsible for designing and developing components, assemblies and whole products.
Mission:
To support the growth and expansion of the business and to continue to innovate and develop a pipeline of new products.
Responsibilities
1. To contribute to the development of new products and/or implement improvements to their existing product range by creating feasible, cost effective, reliable, and safe mechanical designs
2. To develop unique solutions for specific customer requirements
3. To manage projects using engineering principles and techniques
4. To prepare technical drawings for new products, quotation offerings and production for custom orders
5. To perform handwritten calculations and utilise FEA analysis to predict structural behaviours
6. To produce reports when required to present technical analysis and data
7. To utilise our MRP system to create, manage and maintain Bills of materials
8. To create and update technical files to guarantee product compliance with relevant standards and legislation
9. To perform test and validation of products in accordance with standard test requirements
10. To keep up to date with all relevant industry standards, regulations and directives and be able to identify any changes that could affect certification or compliance of our products
11. To work with other members of the engineering team and other departments to achieve mutual goals
Essential requirements:
12. Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering or Product Design
13. A minimum of 3 years of industry experience
14. Strong Math and CAD systems skills - SolidWorks would be preferred but not essential
15. FEA experience would be very beneficial

16. Good Visual and Spatial awareness
17. Excellent written and oral communication
18. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
19. Excellent time management and organisational skills, able to hit deadlines
20. Knowledge of MRP/ERP systems
21. Good understanding of manufacturing process and construction methods
22. Great attention to detail
23. Highly efficient and proactive
24. Commercial awareness
25. Ability to follow instructions
26. Ability to work under pressure
27. Able to collaborate and work well in a team
28. Naturally inquisitive
29. Experience of working with aluminium materials and structures would be advantageous
This is a full time permanent position with a salary of £35,000-£45,000 depending on experience.
The role will be fully on site and has an early finish on Fridays.
