Birkbeck, University of London, is looking to recruit a part-time, fixed-term Associate Lecturer to teach next year in 2026.
Joining the as Associate Lecturer you would teach on the following module:
3. Principles of Digital Video and Editing
4. 36 hours in total
5. 12 teaching days.
You will have knowledge of digital video production and editing and experience in using Adobe Premiere Pro and Filmic Pro, and be qualified to the corresponding level of the award as required to teach (or demonstrate equivalent professional/industry level experience).
Further to the person specification, essential requirements for these roles are:
6. A PhD (or equivalent level) in an appropriate specialism or to be close to completion.
7. As well as being able to teach the technical aspects of Adobe Premiere Pro and Filmic Pro, you will be expected to deliver the principles of documentary making, from idea conception and pitching to storyboarding, interview design, lighting and sound.
8. Teaching experience at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.
9. A good understanding of different teaching and learning methods, and experience in working with students from a range of backgrounds.
10. Effective oral and written communication skills.
11. Good organisation and administration skills.

Remuneration:
This hourly rate is based on the starting point of Grade 7 and is inclusive of a ‘Duties Related to Teaching Multiplier’ at, which covers preparation, teaching, administration, assessment marking and other examining duties in connection with the course.
