Key tasks and responsibilities assigned to the receptionist as listed below: To make appointments for patients in person or on the telephone. To receive and direct patients as required. To handle enquiries from patients including registration requests, home visits, Informing patients of results and pass messages to the doctors and other members of the health care team as required. General signposting.
Processing prescriptions. To ensure the reception area and waiting room are clear and tidy after surgeries. Maintaining notice boards and patient information displays ensuring they remain relevant and up to date throughout reception and the waiting areas. It may become necessary, after a period of time to review this with the post holder. TRAINING: To undertake training courses as required and a willingness to undertake this sometimes outside working hours. CONFIDENTIALITY: To understand that all information concerning patients and the practice is confidential and must not be discussed outside the practice. Notes: The practice has a NO SMOKING policy and smoking is not permitted on the practice premises or while on duty.
Relief duties must be undertaken during holiday and sick leave. The surgery is open from 8.00am until 6.30pm Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday and 8.00am until 7.30pm Monday and Thursday so a degree of flexibility is required with the possibility of an increase in hours in the future and weekend sessions. It is the Surgerys policy that all staff must attend mandatory training when required. This includes fire training, safeguarding training and any other training deemed necessary.
All employees are responsible in reporting any safeguarding concerns to the accountable officer.
