Overview
Medical Examiner Service Operations Support Officer role at NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership. Medical Examiners carry out independent scrutiny of deaths to establish the correct cause of death and identify cases where further investigation into the circumstances of that death is necessary, supported by Medical Examiner Officers who review and analyse information relating to the circumstances of death and care provided. This role will support these roles by providing administrative support and liaising with stakeholders such as Health Boards, Primary care and Coroner Services in the provision of relevant information.
Responsibilities
* Deal with requests and provide information from organisations such as Health Bodies, Coroners, Registrars and the bereaved.
* Provide efficient and effective secretarial, organisational and administrative support for the MES Senior Medical Examiner Officer and Medical Examiners Service team.
* Provide information to relatives of deceased patients, healthcare professionals and the Coroner and Registration Services in relation to operational queries.
* Work with IT systems including Microsoft Excel and Datix and keep up to date with the latest software and technological developments.
* Prioritise work and manage competing demands and interruptions; act as a first point of contact for inquiries from stakeholders and other relevant organisations, taking detailed and accurate messages and ensuring matters are attended to confidentially.
* Organise, distribute and deal with all correspondence, including electronic filing as appropriate.
* Be responsible for dealing with information requests from organisations such as Health Bodies, Coroners, Registrars and the bereaved; solve delegated problems logically and make decisions appropriate to the level of the post.
* Assist with the preparation and coordination of audits and distribution of reports throughout the service.
* Support the team with Welsh language requirements where applicable (Welsh language is desirable; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome).
Qualifications and Experience
* Administrative and secretarial experience; ability to provide efficient administrative support in a health service environment.
* Experience using IT systems, including Microsoft Excel and Datix.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to handle information confidentially.
Desirable
* The ability to speak Welsh is desirable.
