Role responsibilities The overarching purpose of the Anti-Racism Advisory Panel members will be to hold Transport for Wales (TfW) to account in its delivery of its Anti-Racism Action Plan (ARAP), ensuring accountability and transparency in addressing racial inequity within the organisation, and fostering and inclusive environment that promotes racial diversity and combats racism. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following. Attend and actively contribute to the Anti-Racism Advisory panel meetings by sharing insights, providing constructive feedback, and collaborating with other members to develop actionable recommendations, to ensure the panel effectively advances equity, inclusivity and anti-racist practices within the organisation. Respond to queries on the area of policy expertise between meetings, by providing relevant evidence and information, such as reviewing drafts, sharing government reports, research, and other data, to ensure the panel is well-informed and equipped to make impactful decisions. Ensure the needs of people from global majority backgrounds (both customer and colleague-wise) are central to the work of the panel, by amplifying their voices and advocating for inclusive practices, to promote inclusivity and eliminate barriers that perpetuate systematic inequities. Collaborate with the Panel and TfW by; identifying gaps and challenges, highlight opportunities, and present actionable solutions, ensuring the ARAP is effectively delivered, and its outcomes are robustly monitored, to drive meaningful progress in advancing anti-racism practices across all areas of policy. Who we\\\'re looking for Understanding and commitment to the vision, purpose and values of TfW\\\'s anti-racism action plan; an analysis and deep understanding of racism and attempts to tackle it in Britain, its history of colonialism and slavery. Understanding and expertise of how race disparities get institutionalised in policy making, systems, processes and services or in the workforce and having potential solutions to tackle them. Experience or understanding of how public services work to develop and implement policy. Bring your lived experience of racism in helping others understand racism and anti-racism. Welsh Language Skills The ability to speak/write Welsh would make a great addition to your application, but it is not essential for this role. Transport for Wales supports and promotes the use of the Welsh Language by employees and will encourage them to develop, improve and maintain their Welsh Language skills. We fully support our people who want to improve their Welsh language skills, and personal development for Welsh Language skills are offered in a variety of ways such as online learning, classroom courses and funding attendance at local community courses.
