Water Supply Technician

Full time 37 hours per week plus participation on standby rota

Berwick Area – Mobile Worker – Van will be provided

A full UK manual driving licence is required for this role.

Salary from £30,090 to £35,400 per annum (depending on experience)

About The Role

We’re looking to recruit a Water Supply Technician to join our Water Directorate at Northumbrian Water, offering a unique opportunity to play a key role in delivering an essential service to our communities.

In this role, you’ll become part of a dedicated team responsible for operating and maintaining a 24-hour water supply service for around 25,000 customers across the Berwick and Borders area. Your work will span the full water supply process, from abstraction and treatment through to network operations and customer‑facing field activities, giving you a varied and rewarding experience every day.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors and takes pride in making a real, visible difference to customers’ lives. Covering a stunning and diverse region from the Scottish Border down to Wooler and across to Holy Island, you’ll be working in one of the most unique operational areas in the North East.

You’ll also have the chance to work with and support the operation of two brand new £20 million water treatment works, contributing to the delivery of high‑quality drinking water using modern, innovative infrastructure.

As part of the role, you’ll take part in a standby rota to help ensure continuous service, and a company vehicle will be provided to support your work across the region. A full UK manual driving licence is therefore essential.

If you’re looking for a hands‑on role where you can develop your skills, work in a supportive team, and play a vital part in keeping water flowing for our customers, this could be the perfect next step for you.

About You

Don’t worry if you’re new to the water industry, full training will be provided to give you all the technical skills you need to succeed and feel confident in the role from day one.

What matters most is your attitude. We’re looking for someone who brings a positive, can‑do mindset, enjoys working as part of a team, and is keen to learn and develop. If you’re motivated and ready to get stuck in, you’ll fit right in.

This role is ideal for someone who is technically minded and enjoys variety in their work. You’ll be using a range of technologies and applications as part of your day‑to‑day activities, so being comfortable with smartphones, tablets, and digital tools is essential. A genuine interest in technology, combined with a passion for delivering a great customer experience, will really set you apart.

You’ll also need to be confident using IT systems, as we work with several platforms to manage jobs and monitor operations, including SCADA and Elyx. Don’t worry if you haven’t used these before, we’ll provide all the training you need on our industry‑specific systems.

As part of the role, you’ll be required to take part in a standby rota to respond to out‑of‑hours calls, helping us maintain our high standards of service at all times. A company vehicle will be provided to support your work, so a full UK manual driving licence is essential for travelling between sites.

If you’re looking for a role where you can learn new skills, work with great technology, and make a real difference, we’d love to hear from you.
