We have a new opportunity for an Associate Director Energy Consultant to lead our Urban Energy and District Heating team in the North, covering Belfast, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Liverpool, Leeds, Manchester and Sheffield offices.
Key Responsibilities
As Associate Director, you will:
* Develop and deliver the Urban Energy growth strategy across the North, aligned with the wider Advisory business and UK-wide Urban Energy priorities.
* Lead and grow the team through staff development and recruitment, acting as Project Director to deliver high‑quality client outcomes and strong commercial performance.
* Deepen relationships with key clients, build connections with new ones and contribute to work‑winning strategies across the UKIMEA region.
* Lead heat network policy development and analysis, carbon management, renewables and climate services initiatives with regional stakeholders.
* Prepare bids for client opportunities and funding rounds, focusing on decarbonisation.
Qualifications & Experience
You should have:
* BSc or higher in Electrical, Mechanical or Energy Engineering, and be a chartered member of a relevant professional institution (active involvement is a preference; alternative degrees considered if accompanied by relevant experience).
* Extensive knowledge of the district energy sector and strong relationships across public sector bodies, working groups, heat network developers, technical service providers and supply chains.
* Strong technical background with experience in energy systems implementation, technical and economic modelling, and HMT business case development.
* Leadership of technical consulting projects, including energy infrastructure feasibility studies, asset portfolio strategies and area energy strategies for public and private clients.
* Passion for people leadership and development with interpersonal skills to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
* Experience in client management, business development and winning work.
