Older Person Liaison Psychiatry Nurse
Join to apply for the Older Person Liaison Psychiatry Nurse role at Rotherham Doncaster & South Humber Foundation Trust.
30 hours per week – Seven days a week between the hours of 08:00 – 20:00, working a combination of long days and short days.
Mental Health Services in Rotherham have benefited from funding during 2019 and 2020. This investment has enabled us to expand our Hospital Liaison Mental Health Team.
Given that older adults with mental health problems are three times more likely to attend an Emergency Department, and five times more likely to be admitted to a general hospital as an emergency, working within a Mental Health Liaison Team is an extremely essential and rewarding role.
We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with experience with older adults or an interest in working with older adults. In this role you will support the general hospital wards with older persons mental health, assessing, continuing care and planning a safe discharge.
Key responsibilities include:
* Provide a response to mental health crises in emergency departments and inpatient wards within one hour and to all urgent ward referrals within 24 hours.
* Complete full biopsychosocial assessments and formulations and contribute to treatment and collaborative care plans.
* Offer brief evidence‑based interventions as inpatient or short‑term outpatient follow‑up.
* Work within Rotherham General Hospital to reduce length of stay on general hospitals and improve follow‑up care.
* Provide advice and support to Rotherham General Hospital staff regarding mental health care for their patients.
