 
        
        Overview
The Environment Agency is looking for a Commercial Assurance and Framework Management team member to support our contract governance with key consultancies and contractors. The role involves setting up and managing pathfinder programmes, driving commercial excellence across integrated delivery teams, and ensuring value for money for our projects. The position is based within the Portfolio Management, Assurance & Commercial (PMAC) group and operates nationwide with occasional travel and hybrid working.
Responsibilities
 * Support the commercial governance of contract arrangements with consultancies and contractors.
 * Develop and manage pathfinder programmes that embed best practice and foster long‑term partnership arrangements.
 * Provide country‑wide support to Integrated Delivery Management teams and the wider Project Management community.
 * Build excellent internal and external relationships and become an expert on contractual and commercial interpretations.
 * Participate in training and incident response duties as required by the Agency.
 * Assist in developing commercial risk management strategies to deliver sustainable outcomes.
Essential Qualifications & Skills
 * A‑level or equivalent (Level 3) education.
 * Skilled communicator with strong interpersonal and influencing abilities.
 * Experience in stakeholder management.
 * Strong data and document management skills.
 * Commercial acumen – ability to analyse business situations, take proportionate risks, make informed decisions and deliver value for money.
 * Administrative skills – strong organisation, minute‑taking and report drafting.
 * Willingness to shadow and pursue long‑term professional qualifications (e.g., NEC, CIPS) and proactively seek development.
 * Interest in infrastructure, construction or environmental programmes.
Desired Qualifications & Professional Development
 * Degree or equivalent professional qualification or experience.
 * Working toward status with a recognised professional body such as ICE, CIWEM, APM, CIPS or RICS.
 * Formal training in contract management (e.g., NEC, Contract Management Capability Programme).
