Music Teacher
Are you a passionate, talented and dynamic Music Teacher ready to make a real impact?
We are seeking an exceptional musician and educator to join our thriving Prep School from September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to teach in a flourishing department with outstanding facilities, ambitious pupils and genuine school-wide commitment to the performing arts.
You will be ready to teach classroom music to a range of year groups. This could be from Pre-School to Year 8 depending on your particular skill set, delivering a broad, creative and inspiring curriculum that builds confidence, musicality and joy — both in and beyond the classroom.
Strong keyboard skills are essential. You will accompany choirs, support concerts and examinations, and work closely with the Head of Prep Music to lead rehearsals and prepare pupils for performances throughout the year.
Music at Cranleigh
Music is not an add-on here — it is part of the school’s heartbeat.
With weekly congregational singing and a vibrant calendar of concerts and productions, performance lies at the heart of school life. Our pupils take part in:
* Five school choirs
* Symphony Orchestra
* Contemporary bands
* A wide range of chamber ensembles
We regularly collaborate with Cranleigh Senior School for ambitious large-scale choral, orchestral and theatrical productions. Nearly 40 visiting music teachers support an extensive programme of individual lessons, with pupils performing regularly in Informal Concerts and entering the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music and Trinity College London examinations.
The Role
This post is 0.6 FTE and most likely three days a week. With the expansion of our Pre-Prep provision, there may be scope to grow the role in the future.
There is also the opportunity to supplement the contract with additional self-employed work as a visiting music teacher, delivering one-to-one instrumental, vocal or theory lessons according to your expertise.
Why Join Us?
You will become part of a supportive, forward-thinking community that values creativity and collaboration. Cranleigh offers a warm and welcoming working environment alongside a competitive benefits package.
If you are an enthusiastic musician who believes in the transformative power of music, we would love to hear from you.
Cranleigh offers a supportive community environment and also a wide range of benefits.
