About the job
We are looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our projects team based in Keele, UK. As an Electrical/Automation Engineer you will be responsible for electrical-automation system design and documentation for standard solutions and customer-specific solutions. Responsibilities include bid/quotation support, engineering and design, procurement specifications, testing of engineered solutions, documentation, and technical support during commissioning.
Key tasks
* Handling the electrical part of several mid and large size projects at the same time in accordance with the time schedule and budget established by the main PM.
* Carry out electrical engineering which includes specification of complete systems, control-, starter- and HMI-panels, create wiring diagrams in CAD software, cabling, necessary technical documentation, O&M manuals, and FAT of the ordered items.
* Specification of RFQ for control panels based on input from Process and Automation engineer.
* Specify all parts of an electrical system for components, systems, and plants.
* Participate in proposal and sales work.
* Ensure cost optimization on projects by optimizing design, procurement, etc.
* Support start-up, commissioning and troubleshooting either remote or on site.
Who are you
We are looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer with solid working experience in a similar role. You should have an appreciation of engineering fundamentals, be able to read and modify electrical schematics, and have a good knowledge of general electrical engineering principles. You are autonomous, motivated and agile with a customer-focused approach to projects, including an appreciation of time, cost and resource. You must be self-reliant in prioritising, initiating, and completing multiple tasks for multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced environment. You have excellent communication skills, are able to network and build internal relationships to ensure customer query fulfilment, and are confident in communicating with customers whether in person or remotely. You are commercially aware within a projects environment and can provide concise updates to peers and management. You are structured and organised, with the ability to take initiative and drive tasks through to completion.
What you know
* You have a HNC/HND in an electrical engineering discipline, degree preferred, and/or have significant experience in engineering-related roles.
* You have a solid understanding of relevant UK Standards and WIMES specifications, together with an understanding of ATEX / DSEAR regulations.
* You have knowledge of motors, variable frequency drives, pumps, flow meters, sensors, and control valves, etc.
* You have a good working knowledge of PLC / HMI / SCADA systems, particularly Siemens, Allen-Bradley and B&R, and various communication protocols.
* A background with Alfa Laval products is desirable (particularly in separation, dewatering or thickening) but not essential.
