An exciting opportunity has arisen for a clinically focused and motivated pharmacist to join the clinical pharmacy team Raigmore Hospital. This post will support the pharmacy team within medical, surgical and women & children. This includes rotations in gastroenterology, respiratory, general surgery & surgical admissions, acute medicine, cardiology, orthopaedics, ophthalmology, critical care, paediatrics & neonates, renal and care of the elderly. This role would also allow the applicant to develop their clinical skills to support lead pharmacists in other areas of interest in medicine for example, rheumatology, neurology, dermatology, antimicrobials, maternity, diabetes / endocrinology and high dependency units. The range of specialties offers a diverse experience, whilst at the same time gaining specialist knowledge and skills. You will work across different the sub-specialties, with rotations being agreed to suit your training and development needs as well as the service demands. Supervision, training and support will be available from the lead pharmacists within the area and other members of the pharmacy team; no prior experience in these clinical areas is required.
The successful candidate will assist with the training and development of pharmacy students, trainee and junior pharmacists, and pharmacy technicians. Clinical pharmacy technicians are embedded within the team and we are also looking at opportunities for pharmacy support workers to play a valuable role within the overall skills set. The team are also involved in education and training of the wider MDT, including medical students and medical / nursing staff.
Development opportunities will be available, in the form of quality improvements projects and audit, and participation in governance groups such as sub-groups of the Area Drug and Therapeutics Committee.
Candidates should be good communicators; enthusiastic; self-motivated; a strong team player; curious and excited to learn; and be able to problem solve and prioritise. You will be a registered pharmacist with a Masters Degree in Pharmacy and relevant post-registration experience. Post-graduate qualifications including a Diploma / MSc in Clinical Pharmacy and Independent Prescribing are desirable, but we would facilitate the right candidate to achieve these within the role. As a department, education is a priority and we are also committed to our pharmacists becoming credentialed at RPS Core Advanced level and will provide support to help achieve this.

This is an exciting time to join our friendly pharmacy team, as we work towards transforming the way we approach patient care. As well as developing the clinical roles of pharmacy support staff, we are currently implementing HEPMA across all our hospital sites in NHS Highland, and have installed robotics in both our dispensary and distribution services, improving patient safety and efficiency.

You will be required to work in the emergency on-call, weekend working and public holiday rotas. Part-time or job share may be considered.
