St. George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is a major acute hospital that offers very specialist care for complex injuries and illnesses, including trauma, neurology, cardiac care, renal transplantation, cancer care and stroke. The hospital also provides services at Queen Mary’s Hospital in Roehampton, including outpatient rapid diagnostic and treatment facilities, a minor injuries unit, limb fitting services and 70 elderly, intermediate care and rehabilitation beds.
As well as hospital services, we provide a wide variety of specialist, maternity and community services to children, adults, older people and people with learning disabilities. These services are provided from St John’s Therapy Centre, 11 health centres and clinics, schools, nursing homes and people’s own homes. The trust also manages the healthcare service at HMP Wandsworth.
Job overview
An exciting opportunity has become available for a senior clinical fellow in Maxillofacial Surgery with an interest in facial deformity and TMJ surgery. The fellow is required to work within the regional South-West London Maxillofacial Surgery Network centred around the department at St George's Hospital.
Main duties of the job
The fellow will work within the regional South-West London Maxillofacial Surgery Network centred around the department at St George's Hospital. There will also be opportunities in the timetable to attend private hospital clinics and operating lists.
Working for our organisation
The unit forms the hub of a network of spokes comprising Ashford & St Peter’s, Epsom & St Helier, Kingston and Croydon University Hospitals. The fellow is expected to provide a service in line with the subspecialty themes of the fellowship, including outpatient clinics, outpatient and inpatient operating lists, MDT meetings, and on-call commitment. On-call is 1 in 5, covering the middle grade tier.

Qualifications
* MBBS/MFDS/MRCS or equivalent
* Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery or equivalent
* Higher Degree
Experience
* Comprehensive experience in the management of facial trauma, dento-alveolar pathology, oral medicine and generic in-patient management skills
* Head and neck surgical oncology, surgical Dermatology
Skills
* Good oral and written communication skills
* Good interpersonal and leadership skills
* Ability to work within a team
Knowledge
* Ability to teach junior staff
* Evidence of audit projects
* Evidence of research and/or publications
