We have a temporary role available for a duration of 12 months for a Technical Support Officer to work within our Applications team providing technical and functional support for a variety of critical business systems.
The Applications delivery area comprises people-focussed, technical specialists whose passion is maintaining robust, highly available business systems which allow policing information to be available when and where required.
Main responsibilities:
* Oversee the administration, maintenance, development, installation, configuration, and support of all IT infrastructure, devices, and applications across the IT Directorate.
* Provide expert technical knowledge across a range of support and development services, including but not limited to:
o Solution provision, development, and implementation
o Installation, configuration, and ongoing system optimisation
o Contribution to the development and enforcement of technical standards
o Service monitoring, proactive maintenance, asset management, and issue prevention
o Fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, and resolution of incidents and problems
o System upgrades and application patching
o Effective liaison and coordination with third-party suppliers and service providers
o Delivery of expert technical advice and guidance to end users and internal teams
o Creation of technical documentation and training materials, and delivery of relevant training sessions
* Lead the ongoing development of technical support services and infrastructure to meet the organisation s evolving IT needs.
* Contribute to the knowledge management strategy by creating and maintaining reusable knowledge base articles, procedural documentation, and service reports.
* Actively support performance monitoring, using agreed KPIs to identify and implement service improvement opportunities.
* Carry out remedial or developmental actions in response to service reviews, audits, or stakeholder feedback.
* Participate in the delivery of both business-as-usual (BAU) operations and technical projects, advising on and contributing to the design, development, and implementation of solutions.
Skills and experience:
* Experience of working in an IT environment.
* Administering applications and resolving fault queries across multiple systems.
* Experience in relevant technologies.
* Experience of providing assistance to projects.
* You will use a combination of technical knowledge and interpersonal skills, including consultation skills.
* The successful candidate would benefit with prior experience of administrating applications, but will gain exposure, experience, and expertise in multiple applications.
