Overview
The Environment Agency is seeking an experienced investigator to join the National Investigations Team as a Senior Environmental Crime Officer. The role involves leading investigations into the most serious and complex environmental crimes, coordinating evidence gathering, interviews, casefile preparation and prosecution, and working with Partnership Organisations.
Responsibilities
* Lead and coordinate major environmental investigations, identify lines of enquiry, review intelligence, raise and allocate actions, coordinate evidence gathering and interviews, and prepare casefiles for prosecution.
* Work with Senior Investigation Managers and the Major Incident Room to drive investigations forward.
* Investigate cases involving Organised Crime Groups, illegal waste exports and large-scale fraud; contribute to a team focused on significant environmental offenders.
* Develop the team and coordinate investigations across a nationally dispersed unit.
Qualifications and Experience
* High attention to detail; hard-working, self-motivated with a strong investigative background.
* In-depth knowledge of investigative legislation (PACE and CPIA); excellent verbal and written skills; basic IT skills (Word, Excel, Teams).
* Knowledge of environmental crime, leading on serious criminal investigations, and workings of a Major Incident Room desirable.
* Experience in building and developing investigation teams; ability to drive and lead complex investigations.
* Full driving licence; willingness to travel; willingness to respond to incidents.
* Successful completion of SC and NPPV2 Vetting within 6 months; probationary period.
