Reporting to – Contracts Manager Working Hours: Mon – Fri, 8am – 5pm Probation Period: 3 months Job Type: Full Time, Permanent Job Location: Various Sites Start Date: Immediate SCOPE To develop the skills, knowledge, and competence required to install, maintain, and repair domestic plumbing and heating systems while working towards the NVQ Level 3 qualification. The apprentice will gain hands-on experience under supervision, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to industry standards. Progression Opportunities Qualified Plumbing & Domestic Heating Technician Gas Safe Engineer (subject to further certification) Specialist roles (e.g. renewable heating systems, commercial plumbing) KNOWLEDGE Minimum qualifications for this role are: Work towards NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing and Domestic Heating (E) Attend college/training provider sessions as required Build knowledge of regulations such as Water Regulations and Gas Safety (where applicable) Develop competence in system design, installation, and fault finding GCSEs (or equivalent), typically including Maths and English Interest in pursuing a career in plumbing and heating engineering Commitment to completing the apprenticeship programme Comply with all relevant health & safety legislation Use personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times Participate in safety training and toolbox talks SKILLS Basic understanding of plumbing systems and tools Interest in domestic heating and building services Ability to follow instructions and technical guidance Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail Willingness to learn and take initiative OTHER Site-based work (residential properties and/or construction sites) May involve working in confined spaces, at height, or outdoors Requirement to travel to different job locations DUTIES Assist in the installation of domestic plumbing systems including pipework, fixtures, and appliances Support the installation, servicing, and maintenance of heating systems (e.g. boilers, radiators, hot water systems) Learn to diagnose faults and carry out repairs under supervision Interpret technical drawings, plans, and specifications Carry out routine inspections and testing of plumbing and heating systems Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations and company procedures Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean working environment Accurately complete job sheets, records, and apprenticeship coursework Provide professional and courteous service when working in customers’ homes See full job description for more information
