Job Description
The Role:
A new opportunity has arisen for a Solution Architect within M&G Enterprise Architecture team. The successful candidate will work principally on the Advice transformation programme, ensuring that our IT Architecture principles and standards are applied effectively and efficiently across a number of exciting, customer-focused change projects.
Key Work Level Accountabilities:
Manager or Expert:
1. Accountable for delivering expert advice or service, using specialist knowledge and subject matter expertise
2. Applies judgement to deliver outcomes, evaluating a range of potential solutions, considering the impact for customers, cost and risk
3. Manages conflicts that may impact delivery
4. Challenges upwards given knowledge of delivery and awareness of complex systems and the broader picture
5. Identifies and anticipates need for changes to continuously improve quality and efficiency of output
6. Manages resources and risks using expert judgment, know-how and experience
Key Responsibilities for this role:
7. Developing, maintaining and communicating the Solution Architecture that enables the delivery of an ambitious and exciting business roadmap;
8. Defining delivery roadmaps for assigned elements of the Advice Architecture;
9. Working with business and change stakeholders in shaping, delivering and agreeing high level solution architectures that are aligned to M&G wider Enterprise Architecture;
10. Working closely with digital change projects to ensure that detailed design and delivery work is consistent with the agreed solution architecture;
11. Providing general technology guidance and advice to business and IT stakeholders;
12. Identifying opportunities to deliver business benefit through adoption of new technologies or new ways of working;
13. Ongoing definition and subsequent re-use of common design frameworks, standards, patterns and practices.
The role requires close collaboration with business stakeholders, business architects, solution architects, product managers and delivery teams across M&G.
Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
Technical requirements of the role will ideally include extensive and demonstrable knowledge of the following:
14. Enterprise architecture processes (e.g. TOGAF);
15. Modelling and design tooling;
16. Agile project delivery methodologies;
17. Designing solutions based on cloud technologies and COTS;
18. Designing for digital security;
19. Best practice digital design patterns;
20. Mobile app development and deployment;
21. Artificial intelligence and bot frameworks;
22. Advice technology stacks such as XPLAN, IRESS Exchange, FE/CashCalc, and Dynamic Planner;
23. API management technologies.
The following skills / experience are also desirable:
24. The Salesforce.com platform and its wider ecosystem;
25. Data modelling and design;
26. Application performance tuning;
27. A solid understanding of relevant technology trends;
28. Knowledge of Financial Services products and services;
29. Micro-services and containerisation;
