Ecologist – Guildford
Join Thomson environmental consultants as an Ecologist in our dynamic terrestrial ecology team based in Guildford.
We’re looking for candidates who are already working at Ecologist level or have at least two seasons as an Assistant Ecologist and are ready to step up.
As an Ecological Consultant you will travel extensively, including overnight stays, particularly during peak season, working on a variety of ecological projects across the UK. Strong communication skills and the ability to build and maintain client relationships are essential.
Salary – from £28,000 per annum, dependent on skill set.
Requirements
* Proven experience in a similar role, ideally within a commercial consultancy
* A degree or postgraduate degree in ecology or a closely related subject
* Field skills in one or more specialist areas
* Experience of project management/coordination and/or coordinating surveys
* Working knowledge of ecology, legislation and survey best practice
* Excellent communication with clear concise reporting skills
* Full, clean UK driving licence and willingness to travel and stay away from home regularly
* Positive outlook and strong desire to succeed
* Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecological and Environmental Management (CIEEM)
It would be advantageous if you also have:
* One or more protected species licences (e.g. GCN, bat or dormouse)
