Project Manager – Contract
Location: Capenhurst, near Chester
Rate: £55–£65 per hour (Umbrella)

Urenco is a trusted, long-term supplier to the nuclear industry, specialising in safe, cost-effective, and reliable uranium enrichment services. We are currently seeking an experienced Project Manager with proven Plant Enrichment experience to join Urenco UK on a contract basis.
This role will strengthen project delivery capability across Urenco UK’s capital portfolio, with a strong focus on projects delivered within operational enrichment plant environments.
The Role
You will take responsibility for delivering medium to large, complex projects within highly regulated enrichment facilities. Acting as a senior delivery lead, you will also guide and support junior project managers in developing robust project definitions, schedules, budgets, and delivery objectives.
You will be assigned either one major project or multiple smaller projects of strategic importance, taking a hands-on role in the successful delivery of plant enrichment initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Overall delivery of plant enrichment and associated nuclear projects, ensuring objectives for safety, scope, cost, schedule, and business benefits are met
Communicate project strategy, objectives, and benefits to business unit and group stakeholders
Support and influence the development of the Group Project Delivery Strategy, aligned to Urenco UK’s enrichment-focused CAPEX portfolio
Act as a subject matter expert for enrichment plant project delivery, providing advice across the wider Urenco project portfolio
Analyse project requirements, regulatory constraints, and critical success factors, translating these into tailored delivery strategies
Deliver projects with a strong emphasis on nuclear safety, regulatory compliance, budget control, and operational readiness
Manage complex contractual and supplier relationships, including free-issue materials, specialist enrichment technology, and intellectual property
What You’ll Need
Degree qualified (BEng or MEng) in a relevant engineering discipline
Demonstrable experience delivering projects within uranium enrichment, plant enrichment, or closely related nuclear process plant environments
Strong technical engineering background, with the ability to interface effectively with operations, engineering, and safety teams
Project Management qualification (APM, PMI, or equivalent)
Extensive knowledge of EPC contractors, EPS, and construction supply markets within nuclear or enrichment environments
Proven experience working in highly regulated nuclear facilities, including strict safety, security, and quality standards

Due to the nature of the industry that Urenco operates in, all personnel regardless of employment status working for Urenco are required to obtain security clearance at the level required for their role. Security clearances are assessed in accordance with regulations and official guidance issued by the relevant competent authorities for national security vetting. In certain circumstances, additional enhanced security clearance considerations apply to roles within Urenco owing to the particular activities that the Urenco Group undertakes in relation to uranium enrichment. Successful candidates will need to satisfy security requirements, and all offers of appointment are made subject to the successful approval of all checks initiated.
