Job Summary:
To act as the organisation’s lead and competent person for Health and Safety as defined by the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999.
Main Responsibilities:
1. To act as the organisations, lead competent person for environmental policies and procedures
2. To lead the development and execution of the Sustainability and ESG strategy to ensure regulatory compliance, reduce risk and support growth
3. To ensure the organisation complies with current health and safety legislation, approved codes of practice and guidance in relation to employment and service provision
4. To work proactively with managers to establish and maintain a system that promotes a culture of safe working practices, operational excellence and continuous improvement across the organisation
5. To provide direct management and leadership of the Safety, Health & Environment team
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
6. Excellent written and interpersonal skills and the ability to challenge constructively
7. Effective team working and networking skills and the ability to work independently using own initiative
8. A relevant professional qualification - NEBOSH Diploma
9. A chartered member of the Institute of Occupational Safety & Health (CMIOSH)
10. Dangerous Goods safety Advisor (DGSA),
11. GDP Gold Standard - knowledge of pharmaceutical distribution regulations
12. The ability to plan, prioritise and organise own workload
13. Extensive knowledge of effective health and safety management strategies and best practice
14. Detailed knowledge of current health and safety legislation and its application in the DX / supply chain environment
15. Leadership and improvement/change management
Personal Specification:
16. Ideally from multi-drop delivery and collections background
17. Experience of working with a self-employed supplier base
18. Working knowledge of route planning and use of routing software
19. A minimum of 2 years of management experience, including managing teams
20. Ability to effectively plan, manage, motivate and develop a team in a fast-paced environment
21. Ability to communicate clearly to all colleagues and suppliers
22. Experience of working within budgets and cost controls
23. Ability to use Microsoft Office and Outlook applications
24. Able to understand basic business finance
25. Commands respect from the depot team through knowledge, experience and positive personal style
26. Has a transparent and supportive management style
27. Relates well to people and recognises the importance of and effectively delivering regular communication to all site team members
28. Has a passion for delivering great service and a strong customer focus
29. Capable of managing multiple priorities and demands, working under pressure to critical deadlines and objectives
30. Has a regard for the wider business interest and the need to work as part of a team
31. Able to communicate effectively and confidently with all levels of DX management
