Overview
As part of the Manufacturing Engineering and Launch team reporting to the Head of Operational Engineering and Strategic Innovation, we are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Production Steering Manager to lead and oversee the implementation of world-class operational strategies within our automotive manufacturing division. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, and driving operational efficiency across a large-scale production environment. The Production Steering Manager will coordinate with various departments, including production planning, manufacturing, manufacturing engineering, finance, and supply chain, to ensure a seamless transition from Product Definition to Series Production, optimizing processes, implementing continuous improvement initiatives, and leveraging advanced manufacturing technologies. This role supports McLaren Production Centre (MPC) to remain at the forefront of the industry.
Responsibilities
* Monitor hours per car across manufacturing processes, create insights, and drive improvement initiatives.
* Report headcount allocation across all manufacturing lines; liaise with key stakeholders to identify efficiency opportunities.
* Investigate and introduce technology to support production modelling and scenario planning.
* Lead the business in identifying options for the next generation of Manufacturing and Quality execution systems.
* Engage with key stakeholders across the business to identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives to achieve World Class manufacturing.
* Lead projects through effective planning, execution and delivery, managing budgets and stakeholders to ensure all milestones are met.
* Lead cross-functional teams in manufacturing, providing guidance and support for project execution.
* Maintain strong technical knowledge to ensure correct decisions are made in alignment with McLaren’s goals.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives and resolve manufacturing and product issues.
* Monitor production data, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions.
* Experience with programme or business governance and ability to lead through them while developing others’ understanding of requirements.
* Experience in challenging and high-pressure environments.
Qualifications
* Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Management, or suitable industry experience.
* Minimum of 10 years in a manufacturing / production launch environment.
* Experience with low-volume, high-cost product manufacturing.
* Knowledge of SAP PP/ME would be a distinct advantage.
* Experience leading and managing cross-functional teams in a manufacturing environment, providing guidance and support for project execution.
* Strong technical knowledge to ensure correct decisions are made in line with McLaren’s goals.
* Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives and resolve manufacturing and product issues.
* Experience monitoring production data, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing corrective actions.
* Experience with programme or business governance and ability to lead through them while developing others’ understanding of what is required.
* Experience with challenging and high-pressure environments.
