Job Description
An opportunity is available for an experienced Mechanical Craft Team Member to join a busy Cranes & Lifting maintenance team at a large industrial manufacturing site in Llanwern, Newport.
This is a hands-on role responsible for maintaining and repairing lifting equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. The successful candidate will work in a safety-critical environment and contribute to maintaining high operational standards while supporting a collaborative and safety-focused team.
The role also provides opportunities to support team leadership and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out maintenance, fault finding, and repair work on lifting equipment.
* Ensure all maintenance activities are completed in accordance with safety procedures and risk assessments.
* Support safe and efficient plant operations through high-quality maintenance practices.
* Assist the Team Leader in planning maintenance work and coordinating resources.
* Maintain accurate maintenance records using internal maintenance management systems.
* Provide on-the-job coaching and support to other team members where required.
* Promote and maintain a strong safety culture across the department.
* Deputise for the Area Team Leader when required.
Requirements
* Time-served Mechanical Apprenticeship or equivalent qualification.
* Proven experience working on lifting equipment maintenance.
* Knowledge of PUWER and LOLER regulations.
* Ability to work at height and in safety-critical environments.
* Strong communication and teamwork skills.
* Basic IT skills and experience managing maintenance activities.
Desirable
* Experience with SAP or similar maintenance management systems.
* Experience in EOT crane maintenance.
* Demonstrated involvement in continuous improvement initiatives.
