Specialist - Chemical Hazard Evaluation - 30921
Join the Environment Agency as a Regulatory Scientist assessing environmental hazards and risks of chemicals under UK REACH and CLP Regulations.
In this role, you will:
1. Evaluate ecotoxicity and environmental fate data, assessing their relevance and reliability.
2. Summarize and present findings from environmental studies and data models.
3. Describe test methods, noting data limitations and uncertainties.
4. Determine environmental classifications and compliance with UK REACH standards.
5. Conduct quality assurance reviews and interpret data independently.
6. Contribute to research prioritization and development of testing guidelines.
7. Collaborate with colleagues and external partners to support regulatory decisions.
Responding to environmental incidents may be required, with training provided and additional compensation possible.
Qualifications include a degree in chemistry, biology, environmental science, or related fields, with at least two years of relevant experience in chemical hazard and risk assessment. Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills are essential.
