SHL Refractories are looking for a motivated Refractory Bricklayer to join our established family-owned business that has operated in Refractory Installations for 50 years. We are looking for a hardworking individual to join our team of joiners, refractory bricklayers, welders and guniters, delivering refractory repair, maintenance and relining projects on industrial furnaces and high-temperature process equipment across the UK
The role involves refractory repair and full installation of refractory linings (brickwork, gunning, casting, ramming etc.) on furnaces, kilns and other industrial equipment at client sites across the UK. Work can include shutdowns, working away from home, nights and weekends, so reliability and flexibility are important.
This is a specialist trade role with steady contracted hours, regular overtime opportunities, and training/support provided where required.
Location
Candidates should ideally live within approximately 25 miles of our Carlton-in-Lindrick, Worksop base, due to early starts, travel requirements and short-notice shutdown work.
Hours & Overtime
Standard hours are Monday to Thursday 8:00am – 4:30pm and Friday 8:00am – 3:30pm.
Due to the nature of industrial shutdown work, applicants must be willing to work overtime, nights, weekends and stay away from home when required.
Overtime, weekend and night work are paid at enhanced rates
Duties
* Refractory bricklaying, repairs and installation work
* Working on furnaces, kilns and other industrial sites
* Mixing, placing and installing refractory materials including bricks, castables and insulation products
* Working as part of a small site team during planned shutdowns and maintenance work
* Following RAMS, permits, site rules and health and safety procedures
* Using PPE/RPE correctly and working safely in dusty, hot or physically demanding environments
* Travelling to client sites and working away when required
Requirements
* CCNSG SAFETY PASSPORT or CSCS required
* You will be required to undertake training in confined spaces and health and safety as well as others
* Full UK driving licence preferred
* This is a physically demanding role involving manual handling, climbing access equipment and working in industrial environments.
* NVQ Bricklaying or equivalent practical bricklaying experience required.
* Bricklaying experience is essential. Refractory experience is beneficial but not essential, as training can be provided for the right candidate
* Reliable, practical and willing to work as part of a team
* Comfortable with physical work, working away, nights and weekend overtime when required
* Willingness to follow safety procedures and wear required PPE/RPE
