We are LWMTS, a company wholly owned by Lichfield District Council. LWM is a trading company, created to deliver smarter, more efficient, and commercially driven services that benefit our local communities. We’re now seeking an experienced Finance Director to provide strategic financial leadership and operational oversight across the business. This is a pivotal role, driving strong governance, commercial growth, and the efficient delivery of central services including Finance, Payroll, Human Resources, and Information Technology. The role supports both the trading company’s objectives and its alignment with Lichfield District Council’s public service goals. As Finance Director, you’ll: Provide strategic financial leadership and commercial oversight, aligning the company’s financial strategy with both commercial ambitions and public service values. Partner with operational leads to influence key decisions on pricing, service delivery, and contract performance. Deliver insightful financial analysis, cost modelling, and investment appraisals to support commercial growth and ensure value for money. Advise the Board and Managing Director on financial sustainability, growth opportunities, and risk management. Lead on budgets, forecasts, management accounts, and statutory reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Maintain strong internal controls, governance, and risk frameworks. Manage relationships with auditors and ensure compliance with all accounting standards, company law, and local authority frameworks. Oversee the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring accuracy and legal compliance. Provide strategic oversight of HR and IT services, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and continuous improvement. About You We’re looking for an experienced and commercially minded leader who brings both strategic vision and hands-on capability. You’ll be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with significant post-qualification experience and a proven track record in financial leadership within a commercial or public sector environment. You’ll also bring: Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams, ideally including HR, IT, and Payroll. Strong understanding of governance, compliance, and risk management. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills. A strategic mindset combined with operational agility. A proactive, adaptable, and solutions-focused approach.
