The Team
This is a great opportunity for solicitors on all levels to join our enthusiastic and specialist probate team with a high quality workload.
Our probate team comprises a senior associate, two associates, four solicitors and two paralegals and forms part of our larger Private Client department. All the solicitors in the probate team at Wilsons are either STEP qualified or studying for STEP.
The Role
Senior Level:
Working closely with other members of the team, the work will mainly involve:
* the administration of large and complex taxable testate and intestate estates including the application of business property and agricultural property reliefs and the calculation of inheritance tax when there are exempt and non-exempt beneficiaries
* estate administrations on behalf of national charities
* the preparation of some wills and LPAs including those for elderly people where mental capacity may be in issue which may involve making home and hospital visits to clients on an urgent basis
You will also need to supervise the work of other solicitors and paralegals.
NQ Level:
Working closely with other members of the team, the work will mainly involve:
* the administration of large and complex taxable testate and intestate estates
* estate administrations on behalf of national charities
* the preparation of some wills and LPAs
The Person
The successful candidate will:
· be a member of STEP or ATT/CTA qualified or be keen to be developed and to undertake the qualification
· have a high level of technical expertise
· have a full driving licence and own transport as driving yourself to meet clients is an essential part of the role
· be flexible and adaptable to meet client needs
· have a thorough knowledge of lasting powers of attorney
· have excellent client care skills including an ability to build long term relationships with clients
· be able to demonstrate the ability to work in a team and be enthusiastic and ambitious for the team
· be proactive, organised and efficient with good attention to detail
· be able to demonstrate the ability to analyse and make decisions quickly
· have an understanding of how a business operates
· be highly IT literate with the ability to embrace technology and new ways of working
