Overview
Reporting into the NPI Value Stream Leader, the NPI Project Controller is responsible for developing, maintaining and modifying the work breakdown structure (WBS) and the associated detailed schedules, combining these into an integrated master schedule (IMS). Works with the cross functional team and team leaders to develop resource allocations and an associated resource plan. The controller will assist the Programme Manager (PM) in developing budget plans (time and material) and associated phasing. Supports the development of risk and opportunity management plans. This role requires strong integration, communication and teamwork skills.
Job Description
Development, maintenance and modification of the programme WBS. Works with the business functional areas to validate and resource schedules to support total project execution. Supports the development of resource plans and associated phasing, working alongside the PM and Human Resource teams to support the needs of the project. Supports the development and maintenance of project budgets, in combination with the project financial accountant and PM, for internal reporting, forecasting and customer billing. Supports the development, maintenance and execution of risk and opportunity management plans.
Updates risk and opportunity management plans, and helps develop budgetary risk contingency and management reserve values. Supports bid and proposal estimates for new opportunities or scope changes, using work breakdown structure methodologies to estimate labour and material requirements and support the company strategic planning process. Supports the PM in the application of LEAN and FLIGHT DECK standards into the NPI, lifecycle and programme management processes.
Reporting is a key part of this role, covering all elements detailed above, including daily and weekly status, supporting monthly reviews with the Dowty Senior Leadership Team and functional updates to the wider Extended Leadership Team. Development and maintenance of visual metrics and critical Key Program Indicators (KPIs) to enable tracking of project progress, including milestone adherence, budget adherence, cost to complete and, if required, Cost Performance Index and Schedule Performance Index. Supports the running of project team meetings when the PM is unavailable. Supports special roles within the business as needed.
Job Role Requirements
* Qualified to degree level (preferably with a STEM related degree)
* 5 years aerospace experience in a project management or support role
* Strong knowledge and application of MS toolset (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project)
* Certification PMP or APM or PRINCE 2 desirable
