JOB DESCRIPTION
Job title: Front of House Assistant Full-Time - 40 Hours Per Week
Department: Catering
Job purpose: To ensure the highest levels of customer service and hygiene are maintained in all front of house areas.
Specific duties:
* Operating coffee machines and other Front of House equipment.
* Preparing food items like sandwiches, salads, and snacks.
* Ensuring food is presented attractively, correctly displayed and of good quality.
* Operate the till correctly.
* Open and close the café/restaurant as per rota.
* Always maintain great customer service to all our customers.
* Maintain smart, clean appearance, correct uniform worn.
* Be familiar with current menus, ingredients, and allergen information.
* Attend team briefings, training days and mentoring when required.
* Manage the workplace environment specifically including behaviours at work to accepted standards as set out by the College.
* Be responsible for food safety, health & hygiene and show an appropriate level of understanding.
* Complete cleaning and food safety schedules to high standards.
* Liaise with kitchens on fresh food stocks.
* Comply with current legislation regarding food safety, health & safety and HACCP compliance.
* Report any accidents to the manager.
* Occasionally required to work in other areas of the catering department as and when required, Formal Halls, Restaurant, Café etc.
* Work using your own initiative and able to make decisions when in charge.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
* Able to communicate to customers and colleagues in English
* Able to understand basic written English for example menus and allergen information
* Café, restaurant or similar work experience.
* Have an understanding of food service.
* Organise and work to deadlines
* Able to provide positive, friendly customer service.
Special requirements:
* Weekend, evening, and lone working
