What matters to us
Required
* Proven experience managing highways or civil engineering projects in the UK.
* Strong knowledge of highways standards (e.g., DMRB, Manual for Streets) and construction best practices.
* Experience working with NEC contracts (NEC3/NEC4).
* Excellent understanding of CDM Regulations and safety management.
* Strong project management and organisational skills.
* Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and resolve conflicts effectively.
* Competent in the use of project management and reporting tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, or similar).
* Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
* Full UK driving licence.
* SMSTS Certification preferred.
* Chartered or working towards membership of a relevant professional body (ICE, CIHT, APM).

* Lead the delivery of highways projects from inception to completion, ensuring compliance with client, statutory, and contractual requirements.
* Manage contractors, consultants, and supply chains to deliver programmes effectively.
* Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality, safety, and environmental standards.
* Support the development and submission of consents, and manage all consent conditions.
* Oversee construction activities, traffic management, and roadworks to minimise disruption.
* Provide accurate project reporting, progress updates, and risk/issue management to senior stakeholders.
* Ensure compliance with UK highways standards, CDM Regulations, and Health & Safety legislation.
* Manage budgets, monitor costs, and ensure value for money.
* Build strong relationships with local authorities, National Highways, utility companies, and communities.
* Drive innovation and continuous improvement in project delivery.
* Support the development and mentoring of junior staff within the highways team.
