In this role, you will collaborate with Veterinary Surgeons, Veterinary Nurses, and Student Veterinary Nurses to deliver crucial nursing care, supporting the wellbeing of our patients within this multidisciplinary setting. Your responsibilities will include performing essential daily tasks, upholding our hospital's high hygiene standards, assisting with veterinary treatments, preparing surgical theatres, supporting during surgical procedures, and maintaining surgical equipment and attire.

SCVS is a specialist-led small animal hospital equipped to handle complex cases. As a large multidisciplinary referral hospital, we feature impressive facilities and cutting-edge equipment, enabling us to deliver exceptional care from initial consultation to discharge. Located in Ringwood, Hampshire, just off the A31, we are conveniently situated for our clients.
Our recent expansion includes a purpose-built theatre complex, a two-storey facility with an expansive reception and waiting area, 10 additional consulting rooms, and a new rehabilitation center. Future plans include a diagnostic suite, ICU area, and more enhancements.
Responsibilities:
You will provide attentive, personalized care for each patient, including TLC, grooming, and maintaining a calm environment with toys or treats. Support nursing staff with patient restraint, exercise, intravenous catheter management, and participate in patient care discussions.
Additional responsibilities include preparing and cleaning surgical theatres, managing and sterilizing surgical equipment, handling surgical kits, conducting in-house lab tests, and operating autoclaves and ultrasonic cleaners. Administrative duties involve documenting patient care, managing deliveries, and maintaining the dispensary area, including temperature checks and restocking supplies.
Role requirements:
* While qualifications in Animal Care and prior experience are preferred, substantial experience in animal handling and husbandry will also be considered favorably.

* Be a strong team player with confident and effective communication skills.
* Good interpersonal skills are essential.

Working Pattern:
This is a full-time position, working 40 hours/week Monday-Friday. Shifts are 8 hours, rotating between 9 am - 6 pm, including some Sundays on a 2:5 rota with a day off in lieu.
