We are looking for an upbeat and empathetic male Support Worker to join our community support team in Throop, Bournemouth on a part time basis.

Due to the needs of the person we support, we can only consider male candidates with experience in Health and Social care including Autism or Challenging behaviour.

​You will need to hold a Full UK driving licence, however, access to your own vehicle is not essential.

The role

We support David, a young man in his thirties who lives in Throop.

David communicates verbally using short phrases. He also uses PECS cards on his communication board to plan his day and to express his needs and choices.

As part of David’s support team, you could be involved in:

* Going for a peaceful walk near Throop mill.

* Spending time in the garden where David enjoys bouncing on his trampoline or relaxing on the swing.

* Relaxing to music.

* David sees his family every week where they go for a walk and an ice cream.

We’re always looking for new ways to help David engage with and be a part of his local community.

At the core of our service is a commitment to promoting independence. We believe a calm, empathetic, and encouraging team is key to helping David live a fulfilling and empowered life.

A day in the life of a Support Worker would include:

* Sharing your skills and life knowledge with the people we support to enable good life skills and independence when living in the community

* Maintaining consistent and accurate records regarding care plans, finances, appointments and medication

* Following the support plan in plan for each person we support to enable the person to feel comfortable and happy, adapting this as required based on change in behaviour

* Providing some elements of personal care from personal hygiene prompts, helping to bath and wash, medication

Hours: 33 hours per week

Shifts will vary between 7am – 10pm Monday to Sunday on a two week rolling rota.

This role would include working alternate weekends and sleep ins (sleep ins come with an additional payment)
